RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format designed for web content distribution like news headlines, entire articles, or channel specific information. An RSS feed (also known as an RSS channel) consists of a list of items, each of which contains a headline, description, and a link to a web page where the content also resides. Some items will also include other types of information specific to the individual item, like a category or author's name for example.
